Meet couture bridal designer, Stephanie Moran
Fashion designer, Stephanie Moran was inspired to start her own couture bridal design business after planning her own big day and designing her friend’s wedding dress all in the same year.
Stephanie Moran Couture - based in Tadcaster - celebrates its first anniversary this year, and Stephanie has big plans for 2019 including working on a Charity Wedding Showcase at Hotel Du Vin during York Fashion Week. Here she tells us more:
How it all started
Stephanie Moran Couture was created with one thing in mind; to help brides become the perfect version of themselves on the most important day of their life.
Originally from a fashion innovation and occasion wear background, I became enthralled with the world of weddings after I planned my own big day and designed and created my friend's wedding dress, all in the same year.
My aim is to make each bride I work with feel empowered in their gown and to add a little bit of chic, sophistication and glamour along the way.
Using my knowledge and industry experience, I give brides the help and creative freedom to create their personal bridal vision by exploring an exciting and diverse collection of couture fabrics and inspirational designs.
Best part about running my own business
Being part of someone's wedding day is an absolute privilege; being able to help create a bride's vision and guide them through the creative process is by far the most enjoyable part of the job.
I love meeting the bride's I work with, and their families, and I genuinely miss them when their wedding day comes. I can be working with a bride up to 18 months before their big day, so waving them off to get married - and waving the dress off - can be hard. There’s so much love, time and effort gone into making the dress and time spent with the bride - how could it not be!
Challenges of running a small business
There are so many challenges when running a small business - but the rewards definitely out way these. Having to be an expert in everything (obviously this is not possible), so learning and growing along the way and the challenges you face are day to day.
But I love that no two days are the same, and what may seem like the end of the world at the time, actually teaches you and helps you grow and better your future business self.
Plans for 2019
The business has its first birthday in 2019, so although I have been in the industry much longer, there is so much more to come. The bespoke bride collection will continue to grow which will give brides more freedom and choice when choosing their gown.
We are also hoping to have an app to run alongside this in the future which will help brides see the outcome of their dress before it’s made.
We will welcome many more brides through our doors too and help them create and choose the wedding dress they dreamed of.
